A chelated calcium horse calmer, for focus and concentration without sedation.

The key active ingredient in Cool, Calm & Collected is chelated calcium which supports normal neurotransmission*, this aids better risk analysis and decision making. This product also contains Tyrosine, an amino acid that serves several important purposes in the body including the creation of dopamine. Tyrosine only has a relatively short term effect and is only valuable if the horse risks becoming tyrosine deficient due to stress. See below for information about tyrosine and horses with EMS, IR or PSSM.

Cool, Calm & Collected behavioural supplement helps with:

Spookiness
Anxiety
Overreacting
The Cool, Calm & Collected Starter Pack is magnesium free as standard. If your horse has not used one of our products containing chelated calcium before, or hasn’t had chelated calcium for over two weeks, a Starter Pack is required.

Magnesium FREE calmers work best when the rest of the diet has no artificial magnesium added to it. Contact us for a free diet review. This is a FREE service. CLICK HERE. Have a read of this article on diets with no added magnesium. We have loads of other magnesium and chelated calcium resources in our articles section.

We thrive on customer feedback (good or bad) and in the first year of adding tyrosine to CCC we have five negative responses (in UK and USA combined). So these are a tiny number of cases. However the commonality is that they all have either EMS or IR or PSSM. We will be doing our best to find out more about this (none of our competitors seem to have highlighted an issue and there is no equine literature to guide us but there are hints that tyrosine and diabetic humans don't go together that well. That is enough for us to make available a tyrosine free version of CCC (select from the drop down box on ordering. Our product specifically for EMS and Cushings horses (LAM Essentials) has always been tyrosine free.

How to use CCC

If your horse has not used one of our products containing chelated calcium before, or hasn’t had chelated calcium for over two weeks, a Starter Pack is required. Only feed 5 days a week. The 4 lb pack option will last a 1,200lb horse about 5 weeks, use the whole 4 lb pack to load the horse on CCC. Once loaded the 4 lb Follow On bag should last the same horse about 14 weeks.

Implications of too much magnesium

Most modern diets contain plenty of magnesium for horses and many contain far too much artificial magnesium sources. Too much magnesium blocks nerve function and can prevent CCC® from working properly. The Cool, Calm & Collected Starter Pack is magnesium free.  Email one of our advisors with details of your horse and its diet and we will conduct a free diet review and help you find out what level of artificially added magnesium is in your current diet. We will also help you find what suits your horse best. This is a FREE service. CLICK HERE

Other causes of bad behaviour

Behavior is complex. CCC is ensuring the brain has two key nutrients but it doesn't sedate and it won't overcome behavior issues caused by pain (ulcers, poor saddle fit, back problems etc etc). We are happy to help with some of these issues (if you talk to us) but clearly others are outside our control.

    So far so good!!

Posted by Ronda C on Apr 2nd 2021

I’m pleasantly surprised by this product. I am still on the loading dose pack but so far so good! I have tried so many calming supplements, natural herbs, medical testing, ulcer treatments, chiro -massage and training techniques to help my mare with her unexplained explosive spooky behaviour over the years with little success. She is also a typical mare with big opinions on the best of days. The biggest change is that her usually huge melt downs and reactions are smaller, less intense and she recovers more quickly mentally. Normally a spook or melt down would mean I had a fight for the balance of our ride or the ride was over. Now she can work through and get right back to it with a positive attitude. She also is more relaxed in her gates and Has much less tension in her body now! !

    Huge difference in my mare

Posted by London Morin on Mar 22nd 2021

I have tried so many supplements to help my mare focus and reduce her anxiety and tension. Nothing has helped even a little. But this product not only has helped by made a HUGE difference. HUGE! I will not go without it. She is a different pony. We went from the inability to focus to scoring mid 60's in the FEI ponies. And it happened quick. The supplement does not take long to take effect.

    Bugger Man Horse

Posted by Portia Cline on Nov 26th 2020

I have a very nervous paint Arabian. Have not had him on this very long, my second order. He thinks things are out to get him making him a nervous guy to ride. He might seem a little calmer but what I notice most is he likes me now. He is much more attentive to me, more affectionate. Wants to be wherever I am, comes running when he sees me and that is different than he was before starting this. Will give more time to see if the boogers go away.

    Superb Product!

I wasn't expecting such a great response to this product. I actually was researching a non ulcerative calming product for a boarder that was feeding excessive amounts of liquid magnesium. I tried it on my very reactive Dutch warmblood and have been very impressed. Cool Calm and Collected seems to allow the brain time to receive and process different stimuli. This allows the horse to discern different stimuli and react accordingly rather than instinctively exploding in naughty horse behavior. I am so happy to have found this product!

Better than all other products tried

My mare was a frequent spooker (twice or more per week) but now with CCC she spooks about once each 2 months.

I’m going to order another follow on and make a commitment to ride more to see the effects of CCC on my horse.

    No more ghosts

Posted by Mfarm on Oct 21st 2019

My young wb mare has been irrationally spooky and reactive since she was a baby. Under saddle she would bolt, spin, rear, run sideways, and very defensive. I’ve raised and ridden a lot of horses and have never felt the need to give a calming supplement. Magnesium made her feel sedated. She still felt spooky but her body couldn’t react, not a good feeling. I wasn’t willing to try to jump her with that sedated feeling either. I tried CCC and am blown away but the change. She will look at something scary, and I can actually feel her reason through it and go back to work rather than bolting. She’s able to focus, and I feel safe. Her ridability and balance has made huge progress. Hopefully it carries on to the shows.

    So Far, so good!

Posted by Judy Evans on Aug 23rd 2019

My gelding (23 yrs old racing QH but was not raced) is on his 4th week of starter CCC. He has always been an extremely spooky, nervous horse, spinning and running away from anything that he deemed a horse eater-even anything rustling in dry leaves. I've owned him since birth-had his mom. I tried everything on the market and nothing seemed to work He is highly barn sour but not on the trail-he goes into freakout mode when his neighbor leaves the pen at home. He would call out and run around to the point that he would loose a lot of weight. He wouldn't stop until the other horse was back in the pen. It was impossible to stop the process. Since he started on CCC he was noticably calmer afer the first week. He seems happier and relaxed. He has been gaining weight steadily. As I am not there on a daily basis (he is fed CCC when I'm not there) I am not finding him with dried sweat (or drenched in sweat), chipped up hoofs and weight loss anymore. I am very pleased so far with the results. So far, he is much less reactive to "spooky" things. Also, when I received the starter shipment, the smaller bag had burst and was everywhere in the box. I reached out to Customer Service and they sent me a replacement bag which arrived in less than a week. I am grateful for that!
